The Huntingdon Emerald

The Friends of Huntingdon Emerald are dedicated to transforming and maintaining a welcoming green space that fosters community connections, environmental sustainability, and neighborhood pride. We work together to create a safe, accessible, and vibrant park for all to enjoy.

The Friends of Huntingdon Emerald Park operate under Arcadia Commons and are working to transform a city-owned lot at East Huntingdon and Emerald Streets into a welcoming green space.

The process began in 2015 with Councilman Squilla’s support and neighborhood volunteers stepping up to maintain and improve the site. Over the years, Arcadia Commons secured design assistance, hosted community events, and collaborated with city agencies to move the project forward. In 2023, Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) began installation of stormwater infrastructure and hope to finish this project soon.

You might have noticed that there is now a large wooden fence erected around the perimeter of this space. The fence was installed in late 2025 by the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. We are hopeful that The Huntingdon Emerald project will continue. Our local volunteer group is partnering with Neighborhood Gardens Trust, affiliated with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, to care for this space. We are actively working to keep it open, welcoming, and community-driven. Your voice and participation matter. Please reach out to us with any questions, comments, or concerns.
